The Oriental Lady.

I am a part of a wonderful group of fellow quilters! We have been partnered up for over 4 years now.  One of the best aspects and most inspiring is our Round Robin challenges.

In one of our recent “rounds” we decided to focus on fabric. Our challenge was to use oriental fabric. I’m not a big oriental fabric person. I find it difficult and moves me out of comfort zone (if you can’t tell, I like wool).

I focused my energy on taking the fabric and using it to create my interpretation of a geisha.

I knew because of my love of applique I could create a beautiful image.  You can see the oriental fabric and I even added beads to her garment to add some sparkle.

I so enjoyed doing the appliqué and love the finished product.  I have yet to decide just what to do with the block…any ideas?

In the meantime, I have her hanging in my sewing studio and very much enjoy the inspiration she provides me.

Oh and don’t forget Fabric Tuesdays! I’m linking to Quilt Story, see my sidebar for their button.
